It has been a very different experience returning to Winchester post pandemic.  New students and a new department with additional roles as student mentor and student rep. A whole different vibe and a practical based course on which to build new skills.

New skills in particular were very much in focus in the first week, as we start to prepare for our study proposal.  The book “Reinventing You” by Dorie Clark was an insightful and reflective read.  It challenges the reader to audit their strengths and weaknesses with regard to their careers and how they can bridge any gaps.  The questionnaire is a useful tool for self-reflection and was used to produce a baseline.  The book was also beneficial in suggesting the reader leverage existing skills that could amalgamate past and future skill sets, even where there appeared to be no obvious correlation.  It was especially relevant personally to consider years of experience into the potential of new streams of opportunity, growth and revenue.

Although a personal path in not yet clear, one immediate decision was to join the Adobe seminars, where Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design skills could be refreshed with the option of taking the industry Adobe certification to enhance career prospects.
